Inlays and Onlays are often referred to as partial crowns. They use the existing tooth as a base and fit the inlay or onlay on the tooth. This is done to strengthen the tooth, restore its shape, and prevent further damage. An inlay is done when there is no damage to the cusps of the tooth and the inlay can be placed right on the tooth. An onlay is used when the damage is a little more extensive.
At Breeze Dental clinic we use the innovative CEREC same day restoration technology to create your Inlay or Onlay at the same appointment so you don’t have to tolerate a temporary restoration for 3-4 weeks and have to come back to the office to complete your procedure. The decayed area of the tooth is first removed during the procedure. Next a digital scan of your tooth is taken with the CEREC Camera. Then you restoration (Onlay or Inlay) is designed immediately by your Doctor. Next the Cerec Milling Unit will create a custom fitted precision restoration made from a porcelain block. The restoration takes about 30 min to make, so a temporary inlay or onlay will not be needed for that time. During the next step the Inlay or Onlay will be placed on to your tooth and set with cement. Your tooth will look and feel natural and you or anyone else won't be able to tell the difference! Call Breeze Dental Clinic to schedule your same day Onlay or Inlay procedure!
